This year’s Mills Chili Cook-Off pitted The Mills staff tongue-torturers against the Burlington HOG belly-burners, with 11 entries warming up the March 17 event.
Two HOG club members deadlocked in an unprecedented tie, with each garnering 158 votes. Mike Kotlarek’s “Biker Chili” (recipe below) and Diane Snyder’s zesty dish were the clear crowd favorites. Heather Hasher rounded out the podium with 111 votes.
This year, all the proceeds from the Mills Chili Cook-Off went to benefit The Children’s Home of Mt. Holly, a favorite charity of the Burlington HOG. Each year, the club hosts a picnic for the kids and each Christmas, the club rides to the home with a load of gifts.
Plans are in the works for the 2008 Cook-Off (also Mills 50th anniversary). It promises to be even bigger and better, if not more competitive. |
